    As fake as Fayal

When Neha Dhupia made a statement three years ago, she herself might not have known how true she was!!! SRK sells…

Surinder Sahni (Shahrukh) gets married to Taani (Anushka) under unavoidable circumstances. She is not yet out of the shock and needs some time before taking up the role as per the requirement. Later she confesses that even if she turns his wifey, she won’t be able to love her. Heartbroken Suri shares his problem with his salon owner friend Bobby (Vinay Pathak), who tosses an idea of Suri’s image makeover. Taani wants to learn dance and take part in the dance couple contest. So from day one of her training till dance finale, a blonde, muscle showing, outspoken Raj joins her in the workshop during daytime, and the original shy, introvert Suri comes back home late in the evening before dinner time. Raj-avtaar expresses his love for Tanni, who goes double-minded. But as predicted, in the end, the contest is won by them and Suri also wins Taani.

It suffices to say that the scripts of “Laaga Chunari Mein Daag” and “Aaja Nach Le” appear as classics in comparison with this. These days even in “Aparichit”, Sada recognizes Vikram to be Ambi and not Remo, but the very educated and urban Taani does not even flicker her eyelids seeing her husband Suri pretending to be Raj. The dance competition finale was at par with any flop dance show on cable TV.

Few sequences – golguppa + biryani, image makeover, flowery breakfast and honeymoon snaps are well conceived, but they are too few.

Performances: With only three and a half characters in the story, the focus is entirely on Shahrukh, who does and okay job, but has nothing innovative or new to offer. Anushka Sharma has got a full fledged heroine centric role in her debut. She has good looks and acted alright – but not a perfect debut. YRF launched heroines don’t have very good track record in bollywood, she needs to plan her career carefully. Vinay Pathak excels with his comic timing.

Music: Salim-Suleiman’s compositions are soft and soothing on ears, but mostly appear like version 2.0 of “Aaja Nach Le” songs. The retro-recreation-song sequence is one of the most horrible ones done in bollywood till date – Sonu Nigam’s worst.
