A much awaited ‘return’ of Adi Chpra – SRK magic, of course had high expectations to meet.
However, I came out a little disappointed, after watching this convoluted route to a simple love story.
Good things to take from the movie were few:
– The last 5 minutes to start with – Please don’t miss them ?
– The depiction of the real ways in which people cope after marrying someone they don’t know
– Little compromises (like Taani coming for Suri’s wedding party, Taani packing Suri’s lunch) that matter a lot in keeping two people together
– The definition of love (Suri’s lunch box keeps his hope going, Taani’s search and realization is her love)
On the individual performances:
SRK can manage anything convincingly – period; Be it the role of Mr Suri or the quintessential ‘Raj’. After all, he is THE Raj that Indian cinema woke up to a decade back.
Anushkha does a good job for her first film – but her role is very repetitive, I mean I have seen this ‘dual-personality’ trait in Jab We Met also – didn’t find anything novel in it.
Bobby (Vinay) is entertaining – A fine actor delivers in whatever role he is to play!
However, it is the convolutions in the storyline, which made me think – what is simple about this?
