Vikram is hired by a wealthy businessman (Kumar) from the city as a Manager, and asked to report for duty at a town in far away rural India. Vikram reaches his place of posting and carries out his duties. There, he meets Rani, a pretty village lass, and they fall in love with each other. When Kumar comes there for an inspection, he finds everything is according to this requirement and satisfaction, and asks Vikram to run an errand for him, out of town. After a few days, Kumar comes to know that Vikram has been arrested by the police and found guilty at the court, and has been sentenced to 1 year of imprisonment. After a year when Vikram is released, he finds that Rani has gone missing, and is presumed to be dead. A devastated heartbroken Vikram tries to put pieces of his life together when some hoodlums attack him - with a plan to kill him. Vikram manages to escape, but is seriously wounded, and is taken care of, by a band of gypsies. After Vikram recovers, he relocates to the city, with a woman named Radha and her child. He wanted to help Radha to find her missing husband. Around this time, one day he comes across Rani and Kumar. But Rani claims that she is Rita, and has nothing to do with him. Vikram resolves to get to the bottom of this mystery and find out if Rani is actually dead, and if not, then who exactly is Rita, and what is then nature of her relationship with Kumar?
