Ekta Kapoor's upcoming thriller Ragini MMS is based on the real story of 22-year-old Delhi-based girl Deepika. Ekta has maintained that only 30 percent of the film is based from Deepika's incident and the rest is pure imagination.
As per the sources, when the first look poster of the film was released, it became the most downloaded on the internet because of their controversial content and visuals in it.
The film was originally titled "Raginni MMS" but a numerologist advised Ekta Kapoor to change it to "Ragini MMS".
The film only took 25 days to shoot.
Before the release, Ekta promoted her film in a unique way by having tied up with over 2500 auto-rickshaws with a sticker on its backside written as 'Ragini Ka MMS dekha kya?' and as 'Ragini yahan betha karti thi'
Ragini MMS was release in the mid-night of Friday the 13th of May to get the feel of the movie.
Initially, the trailers received an 'A' certificate, which would mean the promos could only be broadcast after 11 p.m. Ekta, doubting the impact of a promo away from prime time, has cut down steamy scenes in the trailer to get a 'U/A' certificate.
Because of some bad occurrences happened during and also after the shoot, Ekta Kapoor conducted a grand vaastu puja, visited sacred place Ajmer Sharif dargah and also holy Kaale Hanuman Temple near Jaipur to get rid of buri nazar (evil eye).
It is said that during the post-production, about six hours of footage was lost because the edit system was crashed and the back up data too got corrupted.
Ragini MMS was shot using 24 cameras for its single scene.
