Rahul Singh (formely Raahul Maharya) is a very talented Indian film actor who works for Bollywood films.] He was born in (Udaipur)and completed his schooling from (The Mayo College)(Ajmer)and later moved to (Mumbai)and he completed his Graduation from (St.Xavier's College)Mumbai. He has done 27 (Bollywood))movies and he is also very active in (theatre) has done 50 street plays in (India)and in (London). He has also done some (Modelling)assignments for (Reebok), (Standard Chartered Bank), Eno Smithkline Beecham, (Orange Mobile), Capstan Cigarettes, (Kotak Mahindra Finance), (ICICI Bank), Dena Bank and Reliance Infocomm etc among the major ones.
He was born on 18th October in the City of Lakes'(Udaipur). His mother (Dr.Prabha Thakur) is a renowned Hindi poetess and social worker and also a member of the (Parliament of India) representing (Rajasthan) in (Rajya Sabha), the upper house of the (Indian Parliament).He appeared in the critically acclaimed 2001 film Zubeidaa and (Jail) and for both of them he has bagged National Award nomination. Rahul Singh is also a writer and has written the dialogues for the Bollywood film Kaante released in 2002.
He has worked in several Bollywood movies and a few Hollywood movies also. Currently he is playing lead role in a TV serial for the Indian cable and satellite television channel Life OK named Sapno Ke Bhanwar Mein, in which he is essaying the role of Brij Bhushan Pandey an honest politician who works for the welfare of the people and helps the poor and needy people. The character of Brij Bhushan Pandey is described as an intelligent, smart, witty politician and a generous person. He has also played a role in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, a Hollywood movie released in 2009. He directed around 50 stage plays and acted in them as well creating social awareness for rising social issues like - (Anti-Dowry, for Priyadarshini Women's Association), (Anti-Narcotics campaign led by Bombay's Sherrif), (Aids-Awareness campaign by Lintas Advtg. & The Govt.of India in Red Light Areas of Bombay), on (Democracy), (Pollution)in & around us, Cultural Decline, Population Problems etc. He has also performed in Cultural Festivals Kaliedoscope, Mood',Indigo and Malhar etc. He has done lot of Professional Theatre namely (The Shawl)played by himself written by David Mamet, (The Hamlet) by (Shakespeare), (The Black Cat) short story by (Edgar Allen Poe), (The Merchant of Venice)by (Shakespeare), (Human Virtues)written by Rahul himself for (World Yoga Conference). He has also done several (Classical), (Modern), (English Theatre) and (Hindi Theatre)in (Oval House Theatre) in (London).
Bollywood director Madhur Bhandarkar also doesn't seem to stop raving about Rahul. "The day I had written the role of Adbul Gani in the movie (Jail 2009), I was sure no one else could essay it better than Rahul and he certainly proved me right", says Madhur, "If I get the right role, Rahul will surely be the first person on my mind!" .
