Beyond a movie director, Tapan Sinha - a man of real finer sensibility upon our society at his time is perfectly proved by his film ' Raja '. A time at about 1970 when illiterate people are roaming around for the sake of service - a profession on demand of job suppose to say that. Raja (Debraj Roy) is basically a person who can easily find people like curse at society. He got a gang & use to do antisocial work like stolen of copper wire. Even he as well as his gang people got a separate family. One thing is proved that all are in this work for money to continue with family. Apparently Raja was introduced with a woman who got him out of jail as well as used him in her business which was supply of women who were suppose to involve in Kolkata's hotel owned by Mr. Thakur Rudra Prasad Sengupta. Jaya (Mahuya RoyChowdhuri) by fate was suppose to come in this profession, but by humanity Raja tried to barred her sometimes by trick or sometime by asking of different job (Tuition). Finally Raja was seriously injured by fire of police by enough to save Jaya as she can realise him as well as what she was going to join. Generally we neglect or avoid these people who we think like a stack sheep, but we can't imagine what feeling & humanity even they can have. Director Tapam Sinha realised it & Raja is a perfect example of that.
