Jamindar Bagalacharan was a minister. His only heir Rajat Chandra and his cousin brother Biswanath started demanding for ten thousand rupees from him, and this money was needed to start a film studio by their friend Samirkanti. Samir came to his uncle Bagalacharan's house. He saw Jayanti, the daughter of retired deputy Magistrate Haranath, there. He fell in love with her. But in the mean time the long 20 years friendship between Bagalacharan and Haranath was about to break because of a dispute regarding the garden. So Rajat's hope of negotiating the relationship with Jayanti was at stake. A millionaire jamindar of Burma , Roy Sree Nataraj Samanta, appeared in scene with his his only daughter Supta.Biswanath approaches Samanta for the money for the film studio. One day Supta came to Bagalacharan's house and gave Biswanath a cheque of rupees seventy thousand for the film company. Bagalacharan was highly impressed by it. Supta gave a unique advice to Bagalacharan. Bagala's late wife had kept a huge amount of gold ornaments for Rajat's would be wife. Those ornaments were insured. Supta adviced him to steal those ornaments and sell it to Nataraj Samanta. By this Bagalacharan would be a double gainer. He will not only get the money from the insurance company but also get the equal from Narataj Samanta by selling those ornaments to him. So a plan to eye wash both the insurance company and the police was being chalked out. Nataraj and Raghua, alias Gajanan, were good friends. Thet were in jail for six months in the past. But Bagalacharan knew that they were college friends. Bagalacharan in thne mean time gave Biswanath ten thousand rupees for the film company. One day the theft of the ornaments was organsed and the was done perfectly under the supervision of Gajanan. Supta was trying to be close to Rajat. Jayanti misunderstood him. In the mean time Bagalacharan came to know the real identity of Gajanan. He parcelled all the ornaments to the town and kept the reciept with Rajat. Having a round table discussion between Gajanan, Nataraj and Supta it was decided that any how they should take the receipt from Rajat, but their plan failed. Rajat locked three of them in a room. Rajat threatened them that he would hand over them police. Supta said that in that case Bagalacharan had to go to jail for stealing the ornaments. Rajat came to Bagalacharan and said that if he didn't settle the dispute of the garden with Haranath, he would report every thing to the police. So Bagalacharan had to settle the dispute. Rajat and Jayanti reunited.
