Raju Singh, one of the big names in Bollywood music scene hails from a family which was in the business of selling musical instruments. His father, Charanjit Singh, was himself a musician. He took music lessons from Guru Uttam Singh for 3 years. Raju Singh’s album 'Roop Inka Mastana' was unique in concept and execution much before remix became popular. He started working with Malkit Singh of ‘Hai Jamalo’ fame. They got together with Adesh Srivastav to release an album titled ‘I Love Golden Star’, which became a rage in the underground circles in Britain.
The guitar was Raju’s inseparable companion in school and college. In Bollywood, Raju started playing the guitar and keyboards for R. D. Burman till his untimely demise. He worked with top singers like Kavita Krishnamurty, Sadhana Sargam, and Sonu Nigam, much before they became stars. Javed Akhtar, impressed with his first album 'Koi Baat Nahin', and wanted to work with him in 'Tum Yaad Aaye', where Javed Akhtar and Alka Yagnik came together for the first time. This album gave Raju Singh, a foothold in the Hindi film music world. Deewanapan, Paagalpan, Madhur Bhandarkar's Satta, Kisi Se Na Kehna, Shaadi.com, Karvat, and Hum Tum Pe Marte Hain were films that followed in quick succession. He has done background score for many movies including recently released Jayanti Bhai Ki Luv Story, Murder 3 and so on. Raju has also scored music for a Malayalam film 'Snehapurvam Anna' with the help of his wife - a Malayali. Raju has also scored music for quite a few films.
