Ramesh Sadhuram Taurani, along with his brother Kumar Sadhuram Taurani, is the owner of Tips Industries Limited. He is a new age producer whose films have mostly been masala entertainers with a different outlook. He has an experience of more than 24 years in the music industry and manages all the activities related to the producers for purchase of audio rights, producing musical software and co-ordinating with artistes.
Ramesh Taurani’s first film production was the Salman Khan-Sanjay Kapoor starrer Auzaar (1997) which unfortunately flopped despite a good script and decent performances. 1998 proved to be a lucky year for Taurani with both his films doing well at the box office, viz. Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai, starring Salman and Twinkle, and Soldier, starring Bobby Deol and Preity Zinta. Kachche Dhaage (1999) starring Ajay Devgan and Saif Kan brought Taurani mediocre success, and so did his controversial film Kya Kehna (2000) starring Preity Zinta, though they both films critically acclaimed. Kunwara (2000) and Kya Yehi Pyar Hai (2002) were below average. The Legend of Bhagat Singh (2002) failed at the box-office, but was critically acclaimed and the film won few awards too. Even its music was outstanding. Dil Hai Tumhara (2002) flopped despite some strong performances from Rekha and Preity Zinta. Ishq Vishk (2003), which marked the debut of actor Shahid Kapur, did average business at the box-office. Taurani’s next film Fida (2004), again with Shahid, flopped, but the actor did receive appreciation. Hari Om (2004), starring A.K.Hangal, fetched accolades. Naqaab: Disguised Intentions (2007) flopped inspite of some good performances and an interesting plot. Among Taurani’s last releases include Race (2008) starring Akshaye Khanna, Anil Kapoor and Saif Khan did well in the BO while the much-awaited Kismet Konnection (2008) starring Shahid Kapur alongside Vidya Balan did not quite set the BO on fire.
In 2003, Taurani won the National Award for Best Regional Film (Hindi) for The Legend of Bhagat Singh (2002). Most of the films produced by Taurani have good music. Ramesh Taurani also produced a Punjabi film Dil Apna Punjab (2006), which was a hit. Tips was the golden dream envisioned by two brothers - Mr. Kumar S. Taurani & Mr. Ramesh S. Taurani. Tips also holds soundtrack copyrights of at least 50 Hindi movies, while the soundtrack copyright of each movie costs about a million dollars and another million dollars is spent on promotion
