  • A ‘Premlila 2’ to follow after this !

Premleela rating: 0 out of 10(Aditya Chakrabarty wrote on 12 Nov 2012)

Premilila introduces a fresh pair in the form of Trambak and Tanishka(formerly known as Priyanka Banerjee), but unfortunately the film is a tragic love story. The film’s director, Goutam Majumdar who has also produced the film offers some hope, but destroys the hope with the ending.

The film is about a young couple, Akash and Manisha who are initially at loggerheads, but later on fall in love. However they can never come together for the simple reason that their parents are well ‘sort of enemies’. This particular term term is mentioned because the respective fathers were best of friends when they were young, but circumstances had forced them to marry each other’s girlfriends instead of their own girlfriends and so the relationship had remained extremely strained all these years though they still remained in touch with their respective girlfriends (just that the partners have interchanged). Their long lasting feud becomes a stumbling block in the relationship of their children and that leads to tragic circumstances.

The film starts on a promising note in the sense, that the opening credits are interesting and the sequences after that as well involving the two couples but then the film starts to disappoint. The reason-the couple isn’t promising at all and can hardly act. Trambak nor Tanisha has no expression on his face and so how much responsibility will the character artistes take? The music is nothing to write home about. Rajatava Dutta, Biswajit Chakrabarty , Rita Koyral and Mousumi Saha and Biswanath Basu do justice to their roles.
The producer cum director has already announced the sequel of this film with the same couple. That is indeed not promising news.
