Ram Gopal Verma ki Rann movie review (starring Amitabh Bachchan as the media baron Vijay Harshvardhan Malik) won't be complete without talking about his earlier movies, especially Sarkar (2005) and Sarkar Raj (2008). Now, Amitabh Bachchan is no more the politician, because the power has shifted from the politicians to the media. Well, it started earlier actually, from Goonda Raj to Sarkar Raj and now Media Rann (Raj).

Lot has been said about RGV's motivation to do the movie. I read somewhere, that RGV made this movie to take a revenge against media, who went all ... » read more

Once gain Amitabh’s name is Vijay and Once again RGV has taken up some hard hitting subject.

This particular period is actually very crucial period for Ram Gopa Verma. By giving flops after flops, I guess many of his close friends would have suggested him to retire now. But he is the man who has given us films like Rangeela, Satya, Company, Sarkar, and many more. He was famous in showing the Underworld stories; he also got famous in showing the politics of our India through film; and now once again he had given us a good film related the competition and the truth ... » read more

Rohit Banawlikar lifts the story straight from the here and now. Banawlikar fritter away the opportunity with cardboard characters and feeble plotting. Besides, the subject matter has been presented in the most simplistic manner, which makes it easy to decipher.

RGV not only manages to grab eyeballs from the beginning to the end with his taut narration, he orchestrates a veritable treat when it comes to performances from his ensemble cast. He has brought to life a predictable but powerful script, backed by extremely talented actors and technicians. But the director ... » read more

A good film on media and politics!

Varma's concern for the characters is genuine but non-judge mental. Each characters even the relatively-shadowy women, emerges as casualty of an over-competitive society where morality goes out of the nearest window.

Amitabh Bachchan's honest TV media baron act is uplifting. He breathes life in the film whenever he's on screen. His speech and the way he delivers it are remarkable.

Riteish successfully tries a make-over as a serious journalist who believes the mike is mightier than the sword. He does well in an intense role. Actually he is only getting ... » read more

I remember watching “NEW DELHI” as a kid and had loved the way Jeetendra manipulated with the news for his personal vengeance. Years later as grew older saw “NEW DELHI TIMES” where Sashi Kapoor kept me gasping revealing the dark side of Politics and Media. But all these films had newspaper portraying the Media. Then came “NAYAK” which showed the rise of television news, overtaking the newspaper as medium of media. But today’s scenario is total changed as now we have more News channels than the number of papers in a morning newspaper. Ram Gopal Varma, who had showed us ... » read more

the movie starts with transpaency in media with right news and not fooling the public. Amitabh , Sandeep , Paresh Rawal and Ritesh had great performances along with rajat kapoor showing fictionally what is going on in the media industry in reality.
Channel fighting for TRP's,content , funding from NRIs politicians to be number no.1 news channel.
It would be better had Amitabh had been given more role in the 2nd half as in 2nd half he is hardly there with any dialogues except for the last scene which was touching and Ritesh who transformed his commedy image to a ... » read more

    Good movie with fantastic performances

Rann rating: 9 out of 10

What a brilliant performance from Amitabh bachchan, Ritesh, Rajat,Paresh, mohnish, gul panag and others. I want that you should watch the movie and therefore I do not want to reveal the story. Direction is very good, music is good the film could have been more gripping but the screenplay plays the spoil sport, nevertheless the less the film is watchable due to above actors performance and direction by Ramuji. and ofcourse any controversy is good forthe film the film got a better collection everywhere than Ishqiya totally an adult movie.Rann is made to run for a long innings ... » read more
