In year 2005, she joined Acting course with Kolkata Film and
Television Institute (KFTI).
From there she started her acting career as a profession. First in
Bengal then in Mumbai. She was born in Agartala, Tripura.
She joined a theater named Nalini Kalamanch. Started getting
offers, she wanted to experience in different sectors like TV,
Commercials, Films (Regional and Hindi both). She had also
worked for Bengali Telefilm named “Aloy Phera” Bhojpuri film
named “Sindoor Daan”, “Dulha Albela”. Then she worked for
TV serials like “Chandramukhi” (DD1), “Jai Shri Krishna”
(Colors), “CID” (Sony), “Aahat”(Zee) etc. She is also associated
with a Theatre Group named “Cadence Theatre Mumbai”.
“Bodyguard” was her best achievement so far.
The character ‘Savitha’ that she played in Bodyguard.
Savitha is a firm girl from a good family. She is an obedient and
honest employee of thakur Sartaj Rana. She was appointed to look
after Divya when she will be going to a different city for her studies.
Tsunami started liking her from the very 1st day he saw her. He
started flirting with her in all possible ways. One fine day when
Savitha realized that Divya has fallen in love with her Bodyguard
Lovely Singh and planning to run away with him. Savitha couldn’t
stop herself and informed Sartaj Rana about the whole planning
made by Divya.
Her look in the film according to directors’ point of view was firm,
innocent yet attractive. It was a life time experience. She enjoyed
every day of the shoot.
Few words she shared about Salman Khan and Kareena:
“Salman Khan is gem of a person. As far as I realised so far he
values relations with his family, friends, co-actors, crew, everyone.
Being a star I never expected from him to co-operate with me but he
did. Many times it happened that he modified scene in my favour so
that I get the footage. He was even concerned about my look and my
comfort during the shoot. He changed my look from south Indian
to Punjabi. I mean saree to Patiala. I think I loved my patiala look
more then saree.
Kareena Kapoor, She is from a family who are one of the
founders of Indian Film industry “Kapoors”. She is no doubt very
professional but very nice. I noticed whenever she use to enter the
set she will carry a sweet smile on her face. She is one of our today’s
generation finest actresses.”
On being asked being a new face in Bollywood. How did the entire
crew of bodyguard treat? She said:
“I was waiting for this question. Being a new face I feel Bodyguard
crew welcomed me with an open heart. They made sure that I am
completely comfortable with all the facilities. Every single person
from Bodyguard has become a very important part of my life.
. Salman Khan, I feel he is the Tiger of our industry. The way we
call SRK as King Khan, I think Salman Khan is our Sher Khan.
One day he noticed my makeup was not done properly. He came
near me and called the makeup guys. He shouted why you guys are
not doing her makeup proper. He instructed them “Abhi madam ko
lekar jao aur chakachak banakar le aao”. Shoot was kept on hold
for 30 mins. I was so nervous I started shivering for a while. I mean,
a girl will fall in love with a person with this much of attention.
Hmmm... If I go back and think all my special moments are related
to ourSher Khan I mean Mr. Salman Khan.
When he changed my look to Punjabi with a Patiala suit. On set he
said “So madam look changed”. I thanked him for that. He replied
it was necessary. I couldn’t ask him why. I think I always felt little
nervous in front of him and little shy too. I can accept that.
