As they say don’t judge a book by its cover, but we can’t say the same for today’s movies. Especially if you are a movie buff and have a knack of judging the movie based on your own movie sense, but then sometimes you are wrong and that’s the time when you feel amazed. These are the times when you feel that this movie is sure shot a hopeless film and when you watch it you come to know that it’s not as bad as you guessed and there are times when it turns out to be much better than the recent watched good films. Now when I saw the poster of “Right Yaa Wrong” my first reaction was a big looser, might be typical run of the mill type story and with loads of junk scenes. But when I saw the movie I came to know that my instincts were right at some places and at some places they were wrong. How much right and how much wrong? Let’s find out.

“Right Yaa Wrong” is story of ACP Ajay Singh {Sunny Deol} and his colleague Rane {Irfaan} who together fight against crime. Ajay has a family consisting of a small son and his wife {Issha kopikar},he loves his family. But one day in a mission Ajay gets injured and gets partial disability. Initially he tries to fight with his will power to get well, but gives up and thus later keeps getting frustrated. In this frustration Ajay seeks help from his wife and his step brother, they readily agree and thus start a new chapter full of thrills and excitement.

Story has some shades from Dilip Kumar’s DAASTAN, Rakhee’s DHUAN and Rishi Kapoor’s KHOJ. But besides that it has its own uniqueness also. First half of the film has typical 90’s type action drama and which is totally pathetic, but the moment second half starts the film and story grippes you till the end. Screenplay is so tight and perfect in the second half that you don’t want to miss a second. Sadly the first half is equally opposite and one does wonder why am I here. Editing is superb in second half and is one of the biggest reasons to enjoy the thrilling second half. Some scenes like the Murder Plotting part, Court Room Drama, Trail Drama and the climax are totally enjoyable. Camera work is quite average. Music is waste and so is the background score.

Director Neeraj Pathak has developed a good subject but sadly he executed the first half very badly. But comes back to right track once the interval gets over. Still he could have added much more to the film in terms of screenplay and technical issues. This movie would have been apt for directors like Anuraag Basu or Abaas Mustan. Still after the superb second half we do wish that Neeraj Pathak gets all his parts in right direction and gives us a total out and out full fledge thriller next time.

It was nice to see Sunny Deol after a long time in a film, sadly he looked bad in all those trashy action scenes and dances in the initial part, but as the movie goes ahead he started to look better and has done his part with total justification. Irffan has given another stellar performance especially in the second half which majorly belongs to him. Konkana Sen Sharma and Issha Kopikar are perfect as per their part. Rests all were fine in small role.

So bol meri “Filmi Khopdi” is film mein kitna hai dum ?

Dum hain kaafi dum hain , but second half mein hi. As said earlier my judgment was correct in first half and later it goes against my initial judgment. If you can manage to sit through the lousy first half of the movie, you will enjoy the thriller in the second half. It’s like while going on the wrong track, you ended up on the right track, and in similar manner after the bad start I enjoyed the Crime thriller and court room drama in the second half.
