Somaya High School and Kamala Raheja School of Architecture in Mumbai. He worked in New York City after graduation and also learnt acting at The Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute.
Riteish got his Bollywood break with Tujhi Meri Kasam, which failed to do well. He was criticised for his looks, but his performance was appreciated. He was even nominated as the Best Newcomer of the year. In 2004, Riteish’s career took a rise when his film Masti was declared a big hit. After the release of Masti, he changed his name from Ritesh to Riteish for numerological reasons. Since then, he has mostly carried on with comedy roles and is successful in that genre. In 2005, his films Kya Kool Hain Hum and Bluffmaster were widely appreciated by the audience and he even won an award for the latter. Home Delivery: Aapko…Ghar Tak (2005) failed to click with the public. His comedies in Apna Sapna Money Money (2006) and Malamaal Weekly (2006) proved to be a success. Fight Club: Members Only (2006) failed to do well. In 2007, the film Namastey London, in which he played a cameo role, was a hit. The multi-starrer action film Cash was a box office failure. He was again back with comedy in Heyy Babyy and Dhamaal, the former being a superhit and the latter deriving moderate success. He also made a special appearance in the blockbuster film Om Shanti Om.
Riteish’s last releases De Taali, directed by E.Niwas did moderate business. Among his future projects are Aladdin and the Mystery of the Lamp. He is also featuring in the film Ramayan. Riteish owns an architectural and designing firm, Evolutions. He continued his first love of architecture and continues to design structures. He recently designed the educational complex in New Mumbai and also two multiplexes, one in Latur and the second in Aurangabad.
