My Rating

  • A Total Entertainment Package!

Robot rating: 7 out of 10(Aakash Barvalia wrote on 01 Oct 2010)

South films are full of masala entertainer movies; which includes unreasonable colorful songs, stylish dance, action, romance, emotions, drama, and all the ingredients, mixed in one bowl and served us with the entertaining species added to it. And “Robot” is the perfect film for those who loves to be entertain, and has no definition of the word ‘entertainment’ in his mind.

It’s a plain simple story which we have seen or heard many a times in the robotic genre movies. Where there is one great scientist (Rajnikant), who has invented his creation as “Constructive Human Robot” for the betterment of the society, and to donate finally to the Indian Army as a Robotic Soldier. And on the other side there’s one villain, who is also a great scientist (Danny Denzongpa), who had made an agreement with the terrorist people to deliver them “Destructive Human Robots”. Since Danny had failed in his experiments, he thought to steal the Rajnikant’s Human Robot formula, and with that he can make his destructive robots. So he rejected Rajnikant’s Human Robot (Name – Chitti) in front of the higher authority people in the name of emotions and values, as he can kill anybody by just following the orders. So now Rajnikant decided to teach him all the emotions and values, but in the period of that the robot fell in love with Rajnikant’s girlfriend (Aishwarya Rai). Because of this he failed to give his test in front of the Army people, talking about love and peace instead of war. And in anger Rajnikant has destroyed his own creation and chucked him in the garbage dump. Now the evil Danny took him up in his laboratory and recreated him as “Destructive Robot”. But now this devil robot has another plan in his mind, to kidnapped Aishwarya and to marry her forcefully, plus taking revenge with his maker, Rajnikant. Will they both survive from this terminator? Will the society be safe from this devil terminator? Watch it and know it.

    Direction and Technicalities:
Written and Directed by the S. Shankar, who has also directed “Aparichit (2006)’ before this, which was also a super hit film throughout, had made his mark once again through “Robot”. Super direction by him and very entertaining script written by him had made this film very charming. Though the rough script is clichéd here, but S. Shankar has made highly enjoyable as much as he can. And I believe S. Shankar is the very rare directors in our industry that can give such a mind blowing shots, right from the start to end, and not to forget the super-unimaginable climax, people will thoroughly enjoy it. All the robotic effects and graphics used were astonishing, except some effects like fire in the building, explosion, etc. were looking fake, but except to that, all the action scenes, car blowing, running over the train, fighting with 100 people, and etc were just astounding, extra-ordinary and just simply incredible, especially the climax part. I am sure you would have never ever seen such climax in our Bollywood Industry. Your Paisa will be totally Vasool by just watching the climax itself. If in case not interested in watching this movie then you can definitely skip the entire movie, but never ever skip the climax of this movie.

Plus the exotic location covered in the entire movie, especially in all the outdoor songs, are very attractive, beautiful and pleasant. Cinematographer has done a splendid job here by covering these all beautiful locations. Songs were little too prolonged, music was good as per the south standard, and the background score were commendable as per the genre.

It’s a Rajnikant film, so obviously his performance is on top notch. All of his fans will definitely love and enjoy this film. And not to forget about his “Ishtyle”, (his trademark in any of his film) are just super and fabulous in this film also, but this time in “Robotic Ishtyle”. He is near the age of Amitabh Bachchan, and in the entire movie you will never ever get the feeling that he is above 60 of his age. Just all because of some great creative make-up artist with some fantastic effects added on it. And at this point of age also his performance is just simply spectacular, and that’s why he is being called as “The Superstar Rajnikant”. He is the total ‘Star of the Show’. Aishwarya Rai is the angel beauty, whose looks are more charming than her performance. Though she has given a decent performance overall, but you will definitely forget about her performance in this film and will be just mesmerize in her beauty. And also the chemistry between Rajni and Aish will find you good, if we keep in mind that Aishwarya Rai is nearly half of the age to that of Rajnikant.

    Final Verdict:
If this movie is a chocolate flavored cake, then Rajni is the Chocolate and Aishwarya is the big round delicious Cherry on the cake. You will not enjoy the cake if the chocolate is not there, and the cake will not be look good is the cherry would not be there.

A must watch for all those Rajnikant’s fans (needless to say that), and for the rest of us it’s a “Complete Total Entertainment Package”, where you will just get to entertain yourself throughout from the start to end.

    3.75 / 5
