    When Passion on….it's Rock On….

We hardly had Musicals and in that too few were success full and major were not. Now adds to that genre is a Musical based on Rock and Urban Music., One does wonder how it will be or rather why this? But Indian movies are changing and becoming in level to international cinemas. This one also breaks the routine Indian musicals and starts a new cinematic experience.

“Rock On” is Story of Aditya [Farhan Akhtar] and his wife Sakshi [Prachi Desai] who despite of everything lives an empty life. One day Sakshi discovers the past of Aditya where he was Adi and was lead singer of a Rock Band. His band consists of Joe [Arjun Rampal], Rob[Luke Kenny] and Kd [Purab Kohli]. Together they were the best, but due to some circumstances things fell apart and for years they were out of touch with each other. Destiny plays its path and Sakshi tried getting them together on Aditya’s Birthday. This sets the journey to the past and future of the long lost friends to achieve their dreams and passion.

On technical grounds the movie is perfect. Story has shades of Dil Chahta hain but the treatment is different. Screenplay is of top notch. Jason West's Camera work is great and the Concerts and events are captured in excellent way. In climax you do feel you are a part of the concert. Editing needs to be bit tight, especially in the second half as the movie runs on a slow pace.

Music By Shankar Ehsaan Loy is excellent and keeps your foot tapping through out the movie.”Socha hai”, “Rock On”, Pichle Saat Dinon Mein”, “Sindbad the Sailor” and “Tum to ho” are simply rocking and goes perfect with the mood of the film. It’s a total creativity from the ace musicians. Though it might not appeal to everyone due to urban youth based subject.

Director “Abhishek Kapoor” does a remarkable job of making a movie with such non Indian theme. His way of working with the flashback scenes is brilliant. It keeps you glued to the movie. Though at one point the freshness stars becoming monotonous and that where the movie turns bit slow. But the climax pulls up everything. He made us feel we are in a live concert and enjoying every bit of it. he has kept the movie on reality level without any melodrama, etc. He distinguishes of the lives of the friends with passion and without passions and it reflects brilliantly on screen.

Farhan Akhtar as the Actor and Singer succeeds and shows no sign of freshness. he is natural and with full confidence. He carries himself with grace. Arjun Rampal after Om Shanti Om gives us another but much better performance. He expresses the feeling thought his eyes in this film. His looks are the best of all. Purab and Luke are great. Prachi Desai is cute and does her role perfectly. Shahana Goswami also gives a great performance. Koel Puri , Dilip Tahil were fine.

So Bol Meri “FILMI KHOPDI” is film mein kitna hain Dum ??

Dum hain, Kutch Alag sa dum hain and in short kaafi dumdaar hain. This movie has everything from good performances, Brilliant direction, and excellent music to a different subject. Though as I said earlier, everyone might not connect to the film but whoever will; they will love the film and have a different experience. The Passion reflects on the screen and when passion’s on…its time for “ROCK ON”.
