LET'S SAY THIS MOVIE IS NOT ABOUT IT'S MUSIC!
A Yash Raj film, the soundtrack for which features only 3 tracks... I rub my eyes in disbelief...can this be for real...yes it is!
Thus coming to first principles...this much is definitely clear that the songs are not an essential part of this film.
In fact the first song 'Pocket Mein Rocket' sounds as if it is a credits song (either opening or closing). It speaks about the central premise of the film in its lyrics and music! Sung by Benny Dayal (of Pappu Can't Dance fame) as per what the song needs to portray. Fits with the film - don't know much about how much listening pleasure it offers!
The second song 'Gadbadi Hadbadi' sounds like a background song. Sung by Vishal Dadlani in characteristic full blast style. It talks about chaos! A fun song but a little too loud on the ears perhaps!
It is only the third song 'Pankho Ko' which seems to have a musical or melodious bent to it. Saleem Merchant sings this one himself and quite beautifully too. This song is in the Iktaara (Wake Up Sid) mould of songs! Nice lyrics by Jaideep Sahni as well!
Well that sums up the album for you. Yashraj throws in songs from Bachna Ae Haseeno, Dil Bole Hadippa, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Tashan, Chak De India & Dhoom 2 to add meat to this lean album - in a bid to get the music lovers to pick up this CD!
