Rocket Singh - Salesman Of The Year rating: 7 out of 10(Aakash Barvalia wrote on 16 Dec 2009)

From the makers of the film “Chak DE India” presents “Rocket Singh Salesman of the Year”.

A very new concept, with some very new and unique look given to Ranbir Kapoor, and hope for the best to give something new from the makers. With no songs, no heroine material, no glamour ka tadka, and with no other useless stuff to prolong the story, the makers and the team had successfully had hold the each and every scene from start till the end, by giving audiences a wonderful entertainment, with lots of extra hidden messages for all the employee’s and as well as Businessman’s.

Ranbir Kapoor as Harpreet Singh Bedi has completed his graduation with the overall 40% in his mark sheet. His friends suggest him to apply for CAT examinations, or try to join in some Call Centres and etc. But Harpreet was very keen to become a “Salesman” and decided to join in some firm as a “Salesman”. Later he joined also in one of the leading Computer Manufacturer Company “AYS” as a Trainee. After some few days, on his first field work he just did something which he felt he did an honest work but later he was blacklisted within the office and the Company’s MD told him to just complete his 6months trainee agreement and can leave this company. Taking this as a benefit, MD has doubled the work load against other employees. As a result, everybody in the office hated him like hell and were throwing Rockets in his desk. After some torture, he decided to repay back everything. He decided to start his own firm as “Rocket Sales Corp.”, and in his this firm he started to join partners who were there colleagues. Harpreet was taking the clients of his company, who were not satisfied with the service, and started approaching them with their new scheme of services, extra facility, flexible money issue, and just so on, with proper ethics and with proper Business sense. Later on their sales figures and no. of clients were increasing, and similarly AYS were going on a loss. Result MD was very keen about this company and wanted to know about it. The main magic starts from here, when MD gets to know about this and the problems faced by Harpreet and his team, and still they win at the end.

Director Shimit Sen who has just directed three films in his career which includes this one, has done a phenomenal job in this film. His previous films “Ab Tak Chappan” rated 3-3.5 stars on an average, his last work “Chak De India” rated 4.5-5 stars on an average, and his current one, “Rocket Singh Salesman of the Year” rated 3-3.5 on an average. So by this rating only, he just proved himself as a versatile Bollywood film-maker in the Industry. He has given and showed us the importance of each and every characters, and thus the characterizations in the film were perfectly balanced. Also the office environment, the big picture and the fact picture of the Sales World, not only the Sales World, but can be said as the Entire Business world has been really beautifully showed by the Director and the Writer. Business Ethics, Office Politics, Harassment done to the employees now-a-days, everything was picturized so brilliantly and brightly.
Story, Screenplay and Dialogues written by Jaideep Sahini is absolutely worth appreciating. Everything was cut-to-cut, in short, to the point, hard hitting dialogues, fine opening and too good ending.

Cinematography by Vikas Nowlakha was good; Editing by Arinadam Ghatak were decent, except for the last close to close cut given in MD & Harpreet Scene were little bit of annoying; and the Music given by Salim-Suleiman were balanced.

Harpreet Singh aka Ranbir Kapoor once again proved to the world that he can do any kinds of roles with proper justice giving. He is the one boy, who can really be called as the Kappor’s Boy, and no doubt in future he will just rock the nation and we all will be so proud to him.

Gauhar Khan, who makes her debut in the Big Screen, has shown us something and proved that she is not the kind of girl who is New in the Industry. Her each and every scene is a shows perfection and worth applauding. Rest of the cast as Mukseh Bhatt, Manish Chaudhry, D.Santosh and Naveen Kaushik just excels in their part. Shazahn Padamsse was just there to kiss Ranbir like in Old Hindi Films. Prem Chopra was good as the grandpa.

    Final Verdict:
A must watch film for every employee and for every businessman.

    Rating: 3.75 / 5
