    Far from the madding crowd

Rockstar rating: 8 out of 10

I had been wanting to escape to a Bollywood movie for quite a few days. I didn’t get a chance to see ZNMD on the big screen, so when the opportunity came up to watch Rockstar at Pathe Amsterdam Arena, I promptly availed of it though I’d be going alone to a movie show after many many years. We must have been about ten of us in the hall - a couple, two sets of two girls, two boys, an elderly gentleman and myself.

The moment I heard the opening line – the unmistakable magic of Rumi’s poetry – Imtiaz Ali had me - hook, line and sinker. As the story unfolded at a leisurely ... » read more

1940’s and 1950’s… these two decades were totally dedicated to a beautiful pair in bollywood industry…. Everyone was only talking about the on-screen chemistry and off-screen romance of RanbirRaj Kapoor {Screen Name: Raj Kapoor} and Nargis…
their pair was the real heart throb of the country… Aag, Aah, Chori Chori, Barsaat, Shree 420, Anari, Awara etc. are few of their best works together…
Raj Kapoor was always known for genius, excellence and brilliance in cinema… and will always be remembered as a real SHOWMAN…

Ranbir Kapoor… is on the same track…. Trying ... » read more

    I regret.I wish.I judge.I miss.I watch.I believe

    I regret. I wish.

Isn’t it strange that regrets are immediately followed by wishes?

    I judge. I miss.

Isn’t it strange that often when we are busy ‘judging’ something, the true essence of that very thing ends up slipping away from our consciousness?

    I watch. I believe.

Truly, is seeing the only test of believing?

Isn’t it strange that one of the most meticulously detailed transformations depicted in Bollywood ever, comes from the duo – Imitiaz Ali and Ranbir Kapoor – known for flamboyance and ‘hunky-doriness’?

Rockstar: Ranbir Kapoor the real Rockstar

Rockstar rating: 6 out of 10

    By Shiraj Dakshy(15 Nov 2011)

Rockstar” is a story of Janardan Jakad JJ played by Ranbir Kapoor and his journey from a normal Haryanvi student in Delhi University to being a Rockstar “Jordan” and his relationship with Heer (Nargis Fakhri) the most sought after girl in Delhi University. The movie starts off well and the first half is extremely fast but post interval the movie starts to falter in pace and the screenplay is stretched. The main issue of the screenplay is, it keeps on fluctuating between being a love story and a story of a rock star. Another flaw is the intermittent flash backs and it is ... » read more

    Starry Romance….

Rockstar rating: 9 out of 10

In our Hindi films from last so many decades we have been witnessing the Singing Star, Dancing Star, Disco Star, Etc. But if you see the facts all these were just ‘Filmi’ avatars. We never saw females rushing for a one song performer or are craze of nation in those eras. But now from last decade things have been changing. With growing number of Music channels and exposure to world culture, Reality shows, Rock Café’s, etc - Finally we have been witnessing the Pop or Rock type American culture in our own Desi land. With films like Jhankaar Beat, Rock On, London Dreams and ... » read more

    Here comes the ROCKSTAR

Rockstar rating: 8 out of 10

A superb movie with a good piece of actings, superb music by Rehman Sahab and a perfect direction. After a long time bollywood was gifted with a full musical film.
As far as acting is concerned Ranbir Kapoor discovered his entire new side. In her debut Nargis was quite impressive.
When an oscar winner is composing the music of the film, we dont need to give reviews. » read more

    The movie of a star

Rockstar rating: 7 out of 10

By Mrs Chandra Banerjee(06 Dec 2011)

This is a story of a simple boy who wanted to make it big! The effort of Ranbir shows.. and he is successful in conveying this , i.e. his performance to the viewers.

The director wanted to do many things but it seems he was confused in many ways to bind his film in proper way!

As a newcomer the leading lady could not match with her partner, but her face is really beautiful!

I liked the movie as a whole episode of a rising star who reached his goal through the tragedy which leads to his greatness. » read more

    Rockstar review

Rockstar rating: 5 out of 10

Rockstar, albeit a popular star, porcelain beauty, lovely locale (the sure shot condiments for a successful brew), is not a movie that is likely to let the coffers overflow. It however, has the potential of graduating to a cult movie; snippets of Ranbir’s dialogue can well go down in history to be recalled by his grandchildren. The flaws, as the reviewer notes, is there; though personally the unsaid unclear situations (the family drama, particularly) was fine in my opinion. The director has probably used them as props to show the morphing, which is the crux of this movie. ... » read more

    Tum ho..

Rockstar rating: 6 out of 10

    By Mona (12 Nov 2011)

There was only one rockstar in this movie and that was A.R.Rehman.
Imtiaz perhaps a lot more to say that he was unable to weave together. The screenplay lacked the amazing continuity that LAK had. Jr. RK still has a long way to go, though he definitely is getting better with every movie. Here he just remained the lost kid trying to fathom his own feelings. The script had an intensity which the perfomers were unable to do justice to.
Only the music was superlative. Rehman has recorded the guitar like never before in Hindi cinema. The audio tracks will stay forever. ... » read more
