Rohit Shetty was born on 14th March 1974 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. His family comes from Mangalore. His father was Shetty, who had portrayed many villainous characters in both Hindi and Kannada movies.

Rohit finished his schooling from St Mary’s School in Mumbai.

    He married Maya in 2005.
Rohit began his career in B-town as an assistant for Kuku Kohli’s Phool Aur Kaante (1991), followed by Ek Aur Kohinoor, Suhaag (1994), Haqueeqat (1995), and Zulmi (1999).

He also gained some experience as an assistant director while working with Anees Bazmi for Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha (1998), a remake of French Kiss.

Most of the films that Rohit worked on had Ajay Devgan starring in it. The two bonded and this led to Shetty getting a chance to work as an associate director on Devgan’s home production, Raju Chacha (2000).

Rohit Shetty, who loves action thrillers, decided to make his debut with Zameen (2003) which was about terrorists hijacking an airplane.

He returned in 2005 with the rib-tickling comedy, Golmaal, about four guys and their misadventures. The movie was a hit and its popularity resulted in a sequel, Golmaal Returns (2006).

Sunday (2008) didn’t create any ripples. His release in 2009 is All the Best, which sees him working again with Ajay Devgan. The movie also stars Sanjay Dutt, Bipasha Basu, Fardeen Khan, and Mugdha Godse.
