Ronnie Screwvala is an Indian Film Producer who owns UTV Motion Pictures. It was founded in 1990, and in just fifteen years, it has grown into a Pan Asian Media Company.

Ronnie Screwvala was born on 8th September 1962, in Bombay. He graduated from Mumbai’s Cathedral and John Cannon School and Sydenham College of Commerce, and entered into the Media world. In June 1981, Ronnie pioneered India’s very first Cable TV Company, Network. Ronnie’s first film was Dil Ke Jharoke Main (1997) starring Vikas Bhalla and Manisha Koirala. It flopped badly. He then was involved in the production of the tv series For Better Or For Worse (2000). Ronnie was the co-producer of the film Fiza (2000) starring Hrithik Roshan and Karisma Kapoor, which flopped inspite of award winning performances. His next film Lakshya (2004) didn’t do too well either though it was critically acclaimed. His next two films in 2005 also flopped, viz. D and Main Meri Patni Aur Woh. The latter won appreciation though. Ronnie’s first big hit came with Rang De Basanti (2006) starring Aamir Khan. The movie was critically acclaimed and won many accolades too. Ronnie’s next film Chup Chup Ke (2006), starring Shahid and Kareena, was his first comedy flick which did just average business. Khosla Ka Ghosla (2006) met with the same fate at the box-office though it won a lot of appreciation. Hattrick (2007) flopped, while The Namesake (2007) and Life in a… Metro (2007) did fairly well and also were critically acclaimed. A lot was expected from Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal (2007) but it managed to do just mediocre business.

Ronnie’s last release Jodhaa Akbar (2008) starring Hrithik and Aishwarya in an epic scale did reasonably well in the Box-Office. His forthcoming films include Madhur Bhandarkar's Fashion (2008) starring Priyanka Chopra and Karan Johar, Dilli 6 (2008) starring Abhishek Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor, Rockstar (2008) whose casting is yet to be done. Ronnie has actively contributed to the growth of the Television, Animation, Feature Film and Broadcasting Industries in India, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia. Ronnie founded the United Studios (USL), South Asia’s premier Animation and 3D and SFX complex, which has put India on the global map as a provider of world class Graphics and Animation.
