In todays huge hoard of remakes and inspired movies, comes another addition with Rubaru. Also,it is another ode to romantic cinema coming off age, albeit in a slightly more matured manner.
Rubaru focusses on the raltionship between a young couple, Nikhil (randeep Hooda) and Tara (Shahana Goswami) who after a a few years of marriage, begin to drift apart from each other.Nikhil is a guy who is so much immersed in his work, that he has no time for his wife. The love in the relationship seems to have been lost as both of them start looking at the practical aspects of life and eventually ignoring each other. Its only when Nikhil gets a chance to relive a particular day in his own life that things take a turn, for better or for worse…that’s what needs to be seen.
Since its remade from an English film, no credit goes to the writers for this one. The screenplay too isnt very taut, as there are many sub-plots which make it lose focus. The direction too, leaves a lot to be desired. Music is hummable, though in parts.
Randeep Hooda looks good and performs decently. Shahana Goswami proves that her performance in Rock On was no fluke, she is indeed a fine actress. Most importantly the chemistry between Randeep and Shahana is brought well on screen, be it the love or the aloofness in their relationship.Jayant Kriplani and Kulbhushan Kharbanda are just about okay in their characters, though unbelievable at times.
Overall, the film can be watched once by people who are in love or have been married for quite some time. The film carries a message for them.
So bol meri 'filmi khopdi'… is film mein kitna hain dum ?’
Dun hai, lekin thoda kam hai. The movie can be watched once for the chemistry between Randeep and Shahana.
