“UP's AND DOWN's….”
“Stock Markets & Woman are unpredictable” says Farooq Sheikh in the Movie, but I feel Even Movies can be added to that phrase. There are times when you feel a particular movie will be great and it turns out to be a dud, vice versa an expected dud turns out to be great. Also there are few movies which you expect to be just Ok, and they are just Ok. “Saas Bahu Aur Sensex” adds to the later genre of expected movies.
“Saas Bahu Aur Sensex” is story of Mrs.Binita Sen [Kiron kher] and her Daughter Nitya [Tanushree Dutta], who has moved to Mumbai after her divorce. Binita gets friendly with the neighbors and join the gang of society ladies [Lillette Dubey, Sharon Prabhakar, etc]. In need of arranging money Binita Decides to sell some stocks which her father had brought. She approaches a stock Broker Mr.Feroz Setna [Farooq Sheikh], who later turns out to be a good friend and guide. Nitya too gets a job in call centre thanks to neighbor Ritesh [Ankur], a friendly guy in love with Kirti [Masumeh]. As the markets starts booming up Binita Introduces her Kitty party group to Stock Market. How does the boom in Sensex affect the gang of ladies and others is what the movie all about.
Story is clean and good, but fells flat at many point. The love triangle of Tanushree-Ankur-Masumeh is the weakest part of the movie. Screenplay is good in some parts but gets clinched many times. Music is loud and does not go with the feel of the movie. Cinematography is impressive in first half.
Director Urvashi has tried to attempt a clean decent movie, but fails to make it gripping . Movie just keeps going on and on without much twist or turns. The climax too is hurried and jumbled up. Though she has tried to give plenty of good and positive message through the film and that too without being peachy, but still somewhere something is missing.
On performances side Kiron kher gives a decent performance. She carries herself with grace and looks pretty positive in this flick. Ankur is fine lad with loads of potential, sadly not used at all in this movie. Tanushree Dutta is strictly average in this non glamorous role. Masumeh looks great but sadly one can’t say the same about the role. Lillette Dubey as usual looks great and has done her part perfectly. Sharon Prabhakar looked quite different and was fine in her role. It was a delight to see Farooq Sheikh on big screen after a long time. He still has not lost the charm and suits perfectly in his role. At many times when the movie is falling flat, Farooq lifts it with his charm. We surely need more of him on big screen.
So Bol Meri “Filmi Khopdi” is film mein kitna hain dum ?
Dum hain kutch kutch dum hain par pace bahut slow hain. This movie is a clean decent film with good message, but less entertaining. It has some Ups but more of downs too. In stock market language , it’s a decent script but might not keep its investors safe.
