Kamala kanta (guruden) from his childhood was a great disciple of maa Kali. He was not willing to study and one day he found an ancient temple of maa Kali and started to worship her. He was also a great singer. His mother (chhaya debi) got him married but he did not pay any attention to his wife and family. One day, he went to the neighbourhood village to take lessons on singing from the renowned singer Kanamam chattijee (dhiraj). There he learnt singing and also worshipped maa Kali. A jamindar listened to Kamala kanta and he took him to his jamidari. There Kamala kanta started to live and sang in maa Kali's tample. His mother went to Nabadwip and there she died. On the other hand, he proved the power of maa Kali, at the cost of his wife's life. At last, the jamindar offered him to go to a new temple of maa Kali at the bank of Ganga, but Kamala kanta disagreed and finally he died at the maa Kali's temple.
