Savitri, a princess is the daughter of the kind Ashwapati. The king wants to get her married but Savitri wants to choose her own groom. Satyaban the prince lives in the jungle with his family, because they are in exile. Savitri goes with the chief noble on a mission. After a long journey when Savitri is resting in the jungle, a king attacks her. Satyaban comes and saves her life. When Sabitri comes to know that Satyaban is the man who has saved her life, she takes him with her to the kingdom. There Savitri marries Satyaban. Savitri's parents are not happy with the marriage. Savitri goes to the jungle to live with Satyaban. One day a snake bites Satyaban and he dies. Yamraj (God of death) comes to take Satyaban, but Savitri wants her husband's life back. Yamraj tells her that this is impossible. Savitri follows him and Yamraj fed-up with Savitri gives her the blessing that she will be the mother of a hundred children. Savitri tells him that without Satyaban his blessings are futile. Yamraj feels happy for Savitri's intelligence and gives her husband's life back.
