The ideal example of nonsense Bengali Film in ‘Sedin Dujone’. The theme of the film was written on the ‘six-sheeter’ poster is ‘Love Is Life’. But after watching this film one would feel ‘Love Is Madness’. Probably the debutant director Atanu Bose has failed to understand the meaning of the word ‘life’. The film is based on an idiotic story of a playback singer Raaj (Amitabha Bhattacharya) who talks with the photograph of his parents who are already dead. He fell in love with Maria (Kasturi), apparently a Christian, but later found she was brought up by the father of the local church as an orphan. Raaj has a friend Suman (Diganta Bagchi) who always drinks whisky and enjoys the company of beautiful girls. Seeing Maria in the engagement ceremony he felt the company of Maria. So one night wearing a leather overcoat and black hat he entered Maria’s house, when she was dressed in a Christian bride’s white attire. In order to escape from the clutches of Suman, she jumped from the balcony and instantly died. Seeing his love Maria dead, Raaj become mentally disbalanced and was sent to a mental hospital. Ooops! What a miserable mental hospital and the mental patient were!! Nobody would find this mental hospitals and its style of treatment anywhere under the Sun. The net result, the spectators might have a chance of being mentally disbalanced after watching this film after for almost two and a half hours. Anyway, there is a doctor in the hospital named Bijoy (Kunal Mitra). Actually he is the son of the gardener of Raaj’s family. Bijoy could easily remember the help of Raaj’s mother while he was a student. So he took special care about Raaj. Sanchita (Kanchana Maitra), another doctor and daughter of the owner of the hospital, joined hands to cure Raaj. Sanchita and Raaj fell in love with each other. Sanchita started singing the song sung by Maria before. Probably she has learnt the story from Raaj’s secret diary which was provided to her by Bijoy. When Raaj and Sanchita decided to marry, Sanchita’s father Dr. Roy (Biplab Chatterjee) resisted it. Sanchita wanted to go away from Raaj’s life and she met with an accident and become mad. In the meantime Raaj was able to flee away from the hospital for a couple of hours. At that time he poisoned the drinks of Suman. Suman died drinking the poisoned whisky. Raaj came back to the hospital and took the responsibility of curing his present love Sanchita in the same mental hospital. The screenplay, songs, acting and direction are all of such a poor quality that doesn’t deserve any comment. I wonder why the producers of modern times ventures and invests these types of films even today!
