Chandra Batru came along with his friend Binod in Nibaran babu's house with a proposal of marriage on Nibaran's friend's daughter Kamalmukhi. Indumati was studying on the other side of the door curtain. She could not think of the name of the other person than Chandra babu and Binod to be Gadai. The third person fixed in her mind by the name Lalit. Since a long time Kamlmukhi liked the poet Binod. So Indumati has no objection in the marriage on Binod and Kamalmukhi. One day in Chandra babu's house when Indumati was discussing love with Khantamani suddenly there appeared Gadai. Indumati gave her identity to Gadai as Kadambini of Bagbazar's Choudhury Family. Gadai was charmed by her and instantly he wrote on Kadambini. Incidentally when that poem was received by Indumati, she came to know that what Lalit was thinking about her. Gadai also came to know that he had a place in the mind of Kadambini of Bagbazar. After marriage poet Binod realized that to maintain wife and a family he needed some money. The moment he realized that he dumped his wife Kadambini to Nibaran babu's house again. But reaching there Kamalukhi came to know that she was the jamindar of Kamaldighi. Binod thought that changing of fate as God's messaging. There was a real Lalit also and when he refused to marry Indumati, then she promised not to marry at all. Nibaran babu fell in deep trouble, because he promised his friend doctor Shibu for marriage of his son Gadai with Indumati. On the other side Gadai also promised that, he wouldn't marry anybody else other than Kadambini of Bagbazar. At last the error of name was corrected and Gadai married Indumati.
