Shadi ka Laddoo is based on the much tried theme of extra-marital affairs and deception in marriage. Som and Ravi went to the same school. In later years Ravi became a successful professional while Som became a home-bound man with a complete family of wife and kids. Chance meetings between the two friends proved the old adage of the grass being greener on the other side of the river. Som felt that in the course of marriage and fatherhood he had lost out on the liberties of life. Ravi on the other hand envied Som his family security.
In order to seek out newer pleasures Som indulged in an illicit affair with a girl named Tara. His wife Divya on smelling licentiousness spied on her husband and naturally gave Som a tough time. Ravi in the meanwhile was all out to woo Maneka.
After the revelation the action gathers momentum and in the end peace is restored. We are left feeling that no situation in life is perfect and utopia should be sought after in mundane life.
