    Shantanu Moitra was born in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. He studied in Delhi University and has a degree In Economics. He shifted to Mumbai in 2002. Moitra composed music for Indipop albums that were hits. Later, he composed for a few films but gained recognition with his music in Parineeta (2005). His music was critically acclaimed and he also received a nomination for the Filmfare Best Music Director Award. The same year he won the precious R.D.Burman Award for the New Music Talent.
    His upcoming releases are Shoebite by Shoojit Sircar, 3 Idiots by Rajkumar Hirani, etc.
