Sharman Joshi was born on 17th March 1979. His father is Arvind Joshi, a Gujarati theater actor and writer. His sister is Mansi Joshi, an actress. She is married to actor Rohit Roy.
He is married to Prerna Joshi, who is actor Prem Chopra’s daughter. They have a daughter.
Joshi started acting in theater as a child. Aame Layee Gaya Tame Rahee Gaya, is one of his most popular plays.
Sharman Joshi’s debut movie was in Godmother (1999) as Shabana Azmi’s son. He had a surprise hit with the comedy Style (2001). He was also part of it’s sequel Xcuse Me (2003).
He was part of a large star cast in David Dhawan’s Shaadi No.1 (2005). He played Sukhi in the critical and commercial hit Rang De Basanti (2006). His co-stars included Aamir Khan, Siddharth and Kunal Kapoor.
He played a comic role in Golmaal (2006) and was seen in the successful Life in a Metro (2007). Hello (2008), which was based on the book One Night at a Call Center, was an average performer.
He is currently filming for Rajkumar Hirani’s 3 Idiots with Aamir Khan and Madhavan. The movie is slated for release in 2009, along with Allah Ke Bandhay and Toh Baat Pakki.
