Shashanka Ghosh or Shashank Ghosh covered the distance from advertising industry to television to the world of movies. He wrote and directed Waisa Bhi Hota Hai - part II and by the way, there was no part I! He is an alumni of Air Force Bal Bharti School, Delhi. Shashank finished his graduation and then became a management student from the university of Jodhpur. He also tried his hand in business with a friend, doing leather exports. But, he quit that to join advertising industry as a copywriter with Hindustan Thompson (now JWT). He later worked with Trikaya Grey and again with HTA where he worked with the launch of Pepsi. He shifted to Hongkong after that, where he worked with MTV on some scripts. He made some films for MTV, which won awards and accolades all over. But, he left that and came back to India, and got the opportunity to launch MTV in India and later, also worked with Star to launch Channel V. He worked with Channel V as Creative Director for 7yrs.

At Channel V, he developed a quirky character named Quick Gun Murugan, which helped in Indianization of Channel V, a typical western music channel. Subsequently Shashank was associated with the launch of WorldSpace in India where he designed the content strategy of over 20 audio channels for the platform. Shashank's first feature, Waisa Bhi Hota Hai – part 2 which was screened at the Rain Dance London festival, and the Cinema India showcase of 6 films in 15 cities in the US, won best film at the Florence River West film festival. Shashank himself said, that WBHH-II was an attempt to address many issues from his own experiences and about his own theory about Bombay, that because of it’s geography and whatever it has evolved into, it makes strangest people rub shoulders and find likenesses in each other.

In 2009, he directed Quick Gun Murugun, based on the character, he created at Channel V, an iconic south Indian spoof of a western cowboy. His next film is titled Mumbai Cutting.
