Shatrughan Sinha was born on December 9th 1946 in Patna, Bihar in a kayastha family. He moved to Mumbai to become an actor and established himself as a prominent member of the Indian film industry. He is an alumnus of the Film and Television Institute of India. He is a natural-born "scene-stealer". Inspired by the great politician from Bihar Mr. Jai Prakash Narayan, he decided to enter politics but later faced with many problems in his choice of career.
He was the scarface actor from Bihar, who had studied acting at the film and television institute of india, pune. He found his mark on the industry easily since he was already famous as the villain. He began films in a cameo role in movie called Saajan, which came out in 1969, in which he played a villain and manoj kumar played the hero. Sanjeev kumar and mumtaz both became his good friends in the industry and supports of his talent. Mumtaz recommended Shatrughan for the movie called khilona, he played a villain in that movie, and everyone appreciated his performance. Khilona was jubilee hit, and brought him recognition, and brought him off beat fare like Chetna and Do Rahe. In Gulzar's 'Mere Apne', his villainous role and his rendering of it was widely acclaimed. His growing popularity resulted in his transcending villainous roles into doing parallel roles as in the film 'Dost' and leading roles in films like - 'Kaalicharan' and 'Vishwanath'.During the late 1970's, Shatrughan Sinha reached the pinnacle of his acting career. The films - 'Jwala Mukhi', 'Naseeb', 'Shaan', 'Dostana' and 'Kaala Pathar', spelled success at the box office. Thereafter, he faced a patchy spell, which was cleared by his films 'Ilzaam', made in 1986, and 'Aag Hi Aag'in 1987.
He is married to Poonam Sinha and has two sons Luv and Kush and a daughter Sonakshi. Shatrughan Sinha is the narrator for Dashavtar, an animation film released in 2008.
