Sheela was born on 4th September 1912 in Debrugarh, Assam. Her father was Manmatho Halder and mother was Bela Halder.
She studied in Bramho Balika Vudyapith and Model Academy. Her debut film was “Abartan” directed by Satu Sen in the year 1936. She acted in “Ghare Phera”, “Jokher Dhan”, “Pathik”, “Abhinoy”, “Banglar Meye”, “Pratisodh”, “Garmil”, “Jiban Sangini” etc. Sheela changed her religion form Hindu to Islam to marry Jyoti Prakhash Bhattacharya as Jyoti was already a married man. Sheela married on 19th June 1941. They change her name from Sheela to Sakina Begam and Jyoti to Yusuf. She knew dancing very well. She died on 30th November 1942.
