Shilpa Shirodkar born 20 November 1973 is an Indian actress and model who enjoyed a period of popularity in the 1990s. She is younger sister of actress Namrata Shirodkar. However, Shilpa and Namrata started their career together but Shilpa started with films and Namrata with modelling . She is grand-daughter of the famous Marathi actress Meenakshi Shirodkar, who starred in Marathi film Brahmachari (1930s), and was the first actress to wear a swimsuit and gambol in a pool, albeit to depict Lord Krishna bathing in the Holy river Yamuna with his gopis. She made her film debut with the 1989 film Bhrashtachar. She has appeared in successful films such as Kishen Kanhaiya (1990), Khuda Gawah (1991) Hum (1991), Aankhen (1993) and the critically acclaimed Mrityudand (1997). She quit acting after her marriage like her sister Namrata. Her last film appearance was in the 2000 film Gaja Gamini. In her short film career she did not get enough opportunity to showcase her talents and was stuck with roles which provided glamour to the films like rain songs . She tied the knot with Apresh Ranjit at a simple ceremony in Mumbai on Sunday, July 11, 2000. After her marriage the two lived in New Zealand, then to the Netherlands, finally setting down in London, Britain, where Aparesh found employment with the Barclays Bank.
She gave birth to a daughter, Anushka, during 2003 ans is now a retruning as a judge on marathi channel e-tv as a judge for a reality dance show
