    The Warning Is on…

What happens when we have collection of all Great talents in their respective field? Either a great Film or a dud. In “Shortcut” Actor/Producer Anil Kapoor gives us the Entertainer director Anees Bazmee as Script Writer, The Funny Script Writer Neeraj Vora as Director, Comic actor Arshad Warsi as Villian, Negative Performance champion Akshay Khanna as Hero and Seedhi saadhi Amrita Rao in Glamorous avatar. Yes your guess is correct, but still let’s finds out what lies beneath this film?

“Shortcut” is story of an aspiring Asst. Director Shekhar {Akshay Khanna} who wants to write and direct his own film. He loves superstar actress Mansi {Amrita Rao} but does not want to reveal to the world till he is not successful director. Shekhar signs his first film as a writer director, but at the same time his script is copied by his jobless bad actor Raju {Arshad Warsi}. Till the time Shekhar comes to know about this Raju’s film is already complete and ready for release. This breaks Shekhar’s heart and hopes in life. Later Opportunity strikes back at his door for another film but with Raju as the hero. Shekar accepts this offer and decides to fight against the conman and make a great film. What happens next is all the film about.

Story is good, but treatment is bad and promos are totally misleading. The promos shows the film as a comedy, which it’s not at all. Screenplay is too tedious and boring at time. The pace of the film is too slow. Baring few jokes there are hardly any scenes where one can laugh or smile. Aneez Bazmee who has written fantastic comedies in past fails to crack the funny bone. Locations of India and Thailand are good but nothing to boost of.

Music by Shankar Ehasaan Loy is average and looks like the trio are losing their magic touch. Many of the songs sound repetitive and inspired by their earlier composition.

Director Neeraj Vora is a brilliant writer with fantastic one liner, but as a director had been disappointment in past and same repeats out here too. His way of treating this project is so confusing and at times boring that the good theme of the film gets lost and hay way.

Akshay Khanna is good as the Director-Writer but nothing to boost about. Arshad Warsi makes us laugh at times, but fails at many times. Amrita Rao who tries to look sexy and glam doll also fails miserably. Chunky Pandey, Tiku Talsania, Siddharth Randheria and Ali azgar hams a lot. Cameo of Anil Kapoor and Sunjay Dutt is a big waste.

So bol meri “Filmi Khopdi” is film mein kitna hain dum ?

Kutch Khaas dum nahin hain, except for few laughs and good theme, there is nothing in this film. but I guess besides for mis promoting the film as comedy the makers have also warned us by showing a song on all the promos which is “Nikal bhi jaa, nikal bhi jaa, patli gali se nikal bhi jaa” I guess we should have taken this promo as the warning sign and should had avoided this movie by taking a patli gali from the cinema hall.
