An engrossing edge of the seat suspense thriller regarding the murder of emminent actress Kakoli Sinha (Anuradha Roy). The film shows that NRI actress, Padmii Chaudhury, with her second husband Sanbit Roy (Sumanta) returns back to India after a long gap to begin her second stint with Bengali movies. But this time she is a producer, Sanbit is the director. There are numerous characters, lots of intertwined subplots, but the centrestage, consists of the murder of Kakali Sinha by Padmini. Padmini is shown bearing a greivance against Kakoli for a persuit of 21 years. 21 Years ago during the shooting of Prasen Pradip (a hit film) Kakoli sought an appointment, though severly attacked by a viral skin disease, shot with the pregnant Padmini hiding her dreadful illness becasue she did not want to miss the daily payments. As a result of intimate sequences between Kokali & Padmini the disease spreads & engulfs Padmini. This creates a blitzkreig upon the pregnant lady. She gives birth to a spastic son (Toto). In the meawhile Padmini marries Sambit & the couple with Padmini's son departs to the U. S. After 21 years Padmini comes back with a fool proof plan & during the Maharat (shooting) of the film she poisons Kokoli & she expires infront of the eyes of Mallika Sen (Nandita) at her (Kakioli's) own residence. The shooting of the film comes to a stand still. Numerous people are suspected and interrogated. Kakoli's husband Pranabesh (Kaushik) becomes the prime suspect. Later various other individuals present on the particular day of the shooting are suspected & interrogated. But no one ever dreams of suspecting Padmini, except one. She is Pranga Pishi (Rakhi Gulzar), Mallika's aunt, an ordinary widowed house wife with extraordinary skills & itelligence. She constantly keeps track of the proceedings of the investigation & helps her niece to accomplish her goal. The abyss of mystery darkens further when Padmini murders hairstylist Kalpana, the lone eye witness of Kakoli's execution. Ranga Pishi helps all the confused & bewildered characters who are trying to reach at a conclusion of the innately twisted plot. Of these characters 2 are worth mentioning. The first is freelance photographer Subhankar (Arindya) & the second is the upcoming , dashin & honest IPS Arindam(Tota) who is in charge of the case. Both become romantically connected with the charming Mallika. The plot deepens further when its found out that Subhankar Choudhury alias Jojo is actually Padmini's ex-nephew. Ranga Pishi develops a unique bonding with Subhankar. In the end Ranga Pishi unravels the person behind the murders. The duo meet each other at Ranga Pishis pavillion. A unique & subtle connection develops amingst the guilty & the detective. After a whole lot of conversation & evaluation Padmini (Sharmila) realises that even though Kakoli was responsible for her expired spastic son, it was no excuse, that she could axe her life after such a prolonged time, she undergoes an innerchange. Padmini commits suicide. In her death Padmini & Ranga Pishi come close forever.
