Saw SINGH IS KINGG today. I wont lie. I liked it quite a lot.
All I had to do was expect nothing, and I mean nothing, and Twas really hilarious in places.
This is one such film, where You cant afford to look for things like Script, Consistency, Technique and works. Its JUST not made for that.
Films as such are much beyond Performances either. Here, You just need everything to fall in place which can possibly make us laugh or have a good time.
The film is constructed on a screwball note, and does maintain it almost through its running length.
After quite an irritating start, The film is all fun and frolic.
Ya, the final 10-15 mins were outright bad and really unfunny. Also, It became a bit Dramatic in the middle, and then very preachy towards the end.
Otherwise, Its a total madcap ride, and refuses to take itself seriously et al. I wonder why so many people out here are taking it so seriously then.
Akki is his usual self (frowning and makking weird faces to make laugh), but as usual, It works! He really has acquired an AMAZING Screen Presence offlate.
Supporting cast does good job at proper comic timing, and We do get to hear uproarious laughter once in a while among the audience.
Manoj Pahwa and Yashpal Sharma deserve a special mention, and Om Puri was a total misfit, although he did just fine.
Katrina too was her usual self. Mediocre!
Pritam's music goes well in sync with the loud and bombastic flavour of the movie. I just wish Daler Mehndi's robustic version of 'Bhootni Ke' was used, and other songs were better picturised.
