    Sheetal Bandopadhay was born on 18th July, 1927 at Narayanpur Village in 24 Parganas. His father’s name was Brajeshwar Bandopadhay. Sheetal Bandopadhay passed his entrance examination from Satyabhama school.

    Film director Sudhir Mukhopadhay introduced him with director Satyen Basu. Satyen Basu was very impressed by him and gave him break in the film called “Barjatri, a comedy film in which he was given the role of a blind priest, the film was released in the year 1951. Sheetal Bandopadhay stepped in the Bengali cinema as a comedian. It was not easy to make his own identity amongst the other comedians in the film industry. He took part in many stage shows and in many theatres and performed his skills as a comedian. Sheetal Bandopadhay remained unmarried. He died on 22nd September 1983.
