Smritimadhur is a tale of Ayan, a young boy and his journey in discovering in what love is all about after getting disillusioned with it and even when he falls in love, his quest for love continues eternally. After a girl leaves him for another guy and a lady in his neighborhood tries to seduce him, Ayan leaves for an outing with his friends. On reaching there one day while taking a walk, he comes across Smriti who mesmerizes him by her beauty. He comes close to her one day during an outing to the tea gardens where she accompanied his friends as the guide. The rest of the friends had gone off as they were all couples leaving both of them together. Later that night a camp fire organized by Mr. Roy (the owner of the guest house), during antakshari when it is Smriti’s turn to sing, she breaks down mid-way while singing a song and becomes furious with Ayan when he starts singing that song. He later comes to know from Mr. Roy that Smriti is his daughter-in-law and that his son had died in an accident and that song was the favourite song of that couple. When later expresses his feelings to Smriti, she also expresses her feelings towards him to him and tells him that she needs to take care of her father-in-law. Ayan willing to wait for his lady love eternally and years passed and he continues to wait for her.
Ritwick Chakraborty as Ayan the young lover and Sreelekha Mitra the older woman do a good job since they are experienced, but the supporting cast barring Biswajit Chakraborty as Abani Roy whici consists of the characters playing Ayan’s friend are not too great. The songs are terrible as well.
