Ayan a young guy’s heart has been broken in love and he is totally disillusioned with love because a girl in the past had broken his heart and afterwards a lady in his neighborhood had tried to seduce him. His parents are constantly trying to fix his marriage, but in vain. One day he goes off for an outing for a few days with his friends. Over there they enjoy themselves and meet the owner of the guest house Abani Roy, an extremely friendly gentleman. Ayan takes a walk one day and comes across Smriti who mesmerizes him with her beauty. He goes to Mr. Roy’s residence one day and he is introduced to Smriti who lives with Mr. Roy. Smriti accompanies Ayan and his friends one day to some tea gardens acting as their guide. Over there his friends go their separate ways as they are all couples and Ayan being single is left with Smriti. That is the first instance when they come close. Later at night, Mr. Roy organizes a camp fire where a game of antakshari is played. When it is Smriti’s turn to sing, she breaks down while singing. When Ayan starts singing that song, she gets furious and leaves. After she and all the others leave, Mr. Roy tells Ayan that Smriti is his daughter-in-law and his son had died in an accident and that particular song was a favourite song of that couple. Ayan tells his friends that he has fallen in love with Smriti though she is older then him but he has yet to express his feelings to her. When he does so, she tells him that she has a father-in-law to look after and even if he agrees, it might be a long wait. Ayan is prepared to wait eternally for her. 4years pass and he is now working in a company and not in touch with his friends. Still he waits for Smriti.
