Expectations: Himesh Reshammiya composes five songs for Son Of Sardar with Sajid-Wajid delivering one. As per his(Himesh's) recent performances, 'go govinda' - Oh my god was beautiful and a big-hit. 'Bol-Bacchan' had two good tracks-'Chalo na naino se' and 'Nachle', that justifies its (Son Of Sardar) expectations. Its a big movie , simply of Ajay Devgan' and some of big names associated with it. Naturally with its promotions, its music had bigggggg expectations. Lets see what himesh has got for us! (Himesh's Recent Albums: 'Oh my God', 'Bol Bacchan', 'Dangerous Ishqq'.)
'Son of Sardar' (Amam Trikha, Himesh Reshammiya)
Pheww! As how many times are we going to hear these type of songs. Merely, himesh effectively presents us these genre in a new way. Already so much emphasis is given to this track atleast by its promos on TV. Filled with signature punjabi tunes, 'Son of sardar' is too boring! Himesh reshammiya and aman trikha has done fine job with the high pitch singing that is squandering. Lets move on without wasting any time and headache pills.
'Rani Tu main Raja' (Mika, Bhavya Pandit and Honey Singh)
As i heard, Honey singh and Mika singh are both singing this track, i was feeling quite exciting. However, the rap by honey singh is good and with mikas inclusion, 'rani tu main raja' is funny and crazy! Properly rendered by himesh with mostly dholki and some pop-ups arrangements. Surprisingly, is of 3:45 minutes and honey singh is used even less which is a short-coming(could have been a big plus-point) , unless, its okaish kind of and has sufficient repeat value (Only for himesh fans).
'Po Po' (Vikas Bhalla, Aman Trikha & Himesh Reshammiya)
'Po Po' is another punjabi drama flick, Utlimately should be as per script requirement. Arggghhhh..............this is just another tidal bore. Arrangements are again of punjabi genre and it is a sub-par song by himesh. Lyrics reseambles much required punjabi tadka and will only drag you more and more. So, let it go! Queer..........! Highly disappointed by himesh's approach here. A Romantic song could have been better! Lyrics are very average.
'Tu Kamaal di kudi' (Vineet Singh, Mamta Sharma)
Literally fed up now! with these average fares. 'Tu kamaal di kudi' is another punjabi cup of tea which has no taste. Vineet singh and mamta sharma are both fine. But the track has no potency. Its another superfluous effort from himesh. Don't have words to express these craps. Lyrics are too poor! Himesh is letting us down highly one after other.
'Bichadann' (Rahat Fateh Ali Khan)
The very essence of this song reminds me of lengendary singer 'Nusrat Fateh Ali' khan. To a greater extent, the song sufficiently resembles to his typo. Rahat yet satisfies us with his (Sir Nusrat) tang of track. Gratifies 'bichadann' with his soulful and melodic voice. Ajay Devgan helps somewhat in between with his small words. Himesh uses his pure usage of tabla and bit rocko version that provides abundant nourishment to this track and serves a endearing track. Lyrics are good. Somewhat saves himesh's effort, don't know upto what extent!
'Yeh jo halki-halki' (Rahat Fateh Ali Khan)
With the name you will easily predict a sufi-number, but yet it betrays you. Surprisingly, sajid-wajid uses rocking cum sufi arrangements for this different number. I will call it an experimental though! Could have been influencing if it was a pure sufi number. Unfortunately, i feel how a legend like rahat is wasted through songs like these. I will not put my money on it but for rahat's sake i will give it a hear. Yet i am uncertain about the progress of song. The tempo till the half is fine but after, it is spoiled by too much chaotic experimentation that spoils the mood. However, Ordinary performance.
'Bichadann'-reprise (Rahat Fateh Ali Khan)
This is a wonderfully arranged song. High beats are very much energetic and love the way rahat carries the tempo of song. Its a lovesome number! Comparing with the original and reprise, this one is surely the way to go. Nice!
Overall - As again, this is a huge 'Let down' for all of us. Himesh was looking good with some recent hits but again, don't know how or why he is delivering some totally forgettable tracks or should i say soundtracks. It's a pity for all of us and whosoever was waiting or planning for this soundtrack- hardscrabble!. As for me , this is a total waste of time. Carry some headache pills before you enter the zone of 'Son of Sardar'. Its a 'Baap of Bakwas'.
My Favourite: 'Bichadann'-reprise
