Shreela Majumdar was born on 27th June in Kolkata. Her father was Ramchandra Majumdar and mother was Kumkum Majumdar. She studied in Aswani Dutta Memorial School up to Class IX, then she passed the Higher Secondary in private. She got her bachelor degree from Bangabasi College, under Calcutta University. She made her debut film “Parshuram directed by Mrinal Sen in the year 1980. Her first released film was “Ek Din Pratidin” directed by Mrinal Sen. She acted She acted in six Mrinal Sen’s film. She got Intrenational reptation as a actress through Mrinal Sen’s films. She acted in 30 Bengali film including “Akaler Sandhane”, “Kahariz”, “Nag Moti”, “Nilimoye Nil”, “Phiriye Dao”, “Puja” etc. She also acted in jatra, Hindi films and TV drama and serials. She married journalist S.N.M Abid on 3rd January 1990.
