    What a Shot!!!

It’s good to see that our industry is having such talented persons and these talented persons are experiencing new talents in various fields. Chandan Arora has experienced in the field of Screenplay Writer and Producer. He started his career as an Editor and had edited many hit films like Company, Jungle, etc. Later he also came into the directorship field and had directed only two films up till now which were unfortunately super duper flops; Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon (2003) & Main meri Patni aur Woh (2005). Now after a gap of complete five years, he not only ... » read more

    Queen taken, missed Cover…

Chandan Arora has a flair of making films on some unusual themes like Main Madhuri Dixit banna chaht hoon {Struggle of a starlet} or Main meri patni aur who {Based on a inferiority complex of a short heighted husband and his tall wife}. This time he takes us in a dark world of a Carrom player, a world which majority of people never knew that it existed. Till now we have seen carom used in 80’s or 90’s film where jobless youth takes out their frustration and keep playing Carrom, which was later replaced by game of Pool. But Chandar Arora takes us more inside the depth of ... » read more

    A Striking Surprise!

    A Striking Surprise!
Low publicity and a small budget often set many preconceived notions for a film… “It won’t be so great” is the general idea but Striker is quite the opposite! Set in the backdrop of suburban Mumbai in mid 80’s this film is more of a docu-drama. Striker is a Chandan Arora film and I for one have found both of his previous films (Main, Meri Patni aur Woh and Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon) quite intriguing. This time around he narrates the story of Surya, a boy who’s brought up in a chawl in Mumbai and also happens to be a champion carrom player. ... » read more

    A good movie overall…

Striker rating: 6 out of 10

    By Chintan (09 Jun 2010)

Chandan Arora’s film is riveting until two-thirds of its length. He, who earlier directed the delightful Main Meri Patni aur Woh, keeps a tight rein on the storytelling, only to falter in the screenplay, especially post interval. You can pinpoint the exact moment when the plot starts to unravel: the film’s going back and forth in time gets stuck at the ’92 Bombay riots, and the Hindu-Muslim angle, which had been used so effectively and understatedly till then, strangles the last half hour or so. The writer-director sets up his world and stays true to it till the end credits ... » read more

    Not so famous…but good performances!

Striker rating: 5 out of 10

    By Mitesh Shah(23 Jun 2010)

Siddharth, Pancholi, Biswas and especially Ankur Vakil were all excellent.

Ankur Vikal is a revelation. Playing a buddy with a heart of gold, but whose idea of gathering wealth is distorted, he puts life into the character. As the fixer with a heart of gold, he is a complete natural. His abundant flow of physical energy and expression resembles the likes of Pawan Malhotra, Makarand Deshpande and Deepak Dobriyal which if honed in the right direction could produce something spectacular.

Aditya Pancholi, the man delivers a mature performance as the dreaded ... » read more
