    These Students won’t win Virus’s pen, But….

Student Of The Year rating: 6 out of 10

Almost 3 years ago, Rajkumar Hirani gave us a classic - {Which remains the highest grosser to date} -3 Idiots. The movie became such a huge landmark that almost everything related to the film has achieved a cult status by now. One such thing is the Pen of Virus {Viru Sahastrabudhhe}, which the professor had been keeping for decades before finding a brilliant enough student to gift it to. Now this year Karan Johar brings us his new film ‘Student Of The Year’, which does not star his fav Shah Rukh Khan, but instead introduces three fresh faces in his typical glamorous manner ... » read more

SOTY:KaranJohar‘s larger than life Bollywood movie

Welcome to the world of KJo, actors in perfect designer clothes, best of cars, candy floss romance, good looking actors, picture perfect sets & settings well color co-ordinated, in short a larger than life Bollywood movie fare.

Let us accept it that KJo has created his own brand of cinema, which you can love or hate but definitely cannot ignore it & SOTY is exactly the same KJo brand of movie.
SOTY is a story of two friends Rohan Nanda (Varun Dhawan) & Abhimanyu Singh (Sidharth Malhotra) who meet in St Teresa who initially hate each other but eventually ... » read more

I am no Karan Johar fan. I haven’t seen KKHH beyond few songs and scenes. KKKG was too sweet for my comfort. KANK was maddening to say the least. I didn’t want to see MNIK. With SOTY, I bought my ticket in advance for the Dussehra morning show (the tickets are priced at the lowest in the morning shows).

    According to Oxford English Dictionary
    Definition of student
a person who is studying at a university or other place of higher education

But then that was the pre-SOTY era.

I am sure post SOTY, Oxford English Dictionary will ... » read more

Puppy love presented in a grand way.

Student Of The Year rating: 8 out of 10

Frankly, this movie reminded me of my school days! Yes, the days when the boys in my class came in Ferrari and the girls wore all the branded clothes from around the world. Yup, those were the days!

Well, Student of the year (SOTY) is a fairy tale movie and it should be enjoyed in that taste only, which I did and loved every minute of it. Yes, I am saying this. I had very low expectations from the movie thinking it's a movie with all newcomers and the best they could do is average. Well, guess what I was wrong!

All the 3 new comers Varun Dhawan, Sidharth ... » read more

The high profile debuts of the year!

Karan Johar is back, and this time has debutantes Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Siddharth Malhotra in the lead. While Alia and Varun seem good, Siddharth needs to bring variations in his expressions - it seems that his eyebrows and eyes are totally immovable, they are just stuck that way!!!

The songs are groovy, the story is predictable!

Will SOTY strike a chord with the audience, only time will tell. » read more

Film: Student Of The Year; Cast: Siddharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Rishi Kapoor, Ram Kapoor, Ronit Roy, Gautami Kapoor, Sana Syed, Kayoze Irani and Farida Jalal; Director: Karan Johar; Rating: ***

After love your parents message, Karan Johar now talks about loving your friends in his latest film Student Of The Year (SOTY).

Student Of The Year is light and fluffy, yet full of substance. The lead threesome - Varun Dhawan, Siddharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt - are adorable.

The narrative goes back and forth in a similar fashion that was witnessed in "Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na". School friends meet after a decade of leaving school when they come to meet their» Read full review
