‘Suryachi Pille’, written initially as a radio play by the literary genius, Vasant Kanetkar, was staged successfully first in the early ‘70s by veteran dramatist Damu Kenkre under the aegis of the Goa Hindu Association and has been performed many a time since then. Late Swatantra Surya Punjabrao Bhaskar alias Abba Kaka Koti Bhaskar was a freedom fighter. He left behind a trust that runs various institutions. Each of his four sons has been assigned one institution to look after. While Pandu Anna, a widower, runs the printing press, Bajrang Dada is the Principal of the National High School. The third brother Dr Raghu Raya, a sworn Brahmachari, runs the trust hospital. The youngest of the family Shriranga is considered the black sheep in the family by his elder brothers for his carefree attitude. While the elder brothers want to live in the glory of their father, Shriranga is more down to earth and wants realization to dawn. Will he succeed in his endeavor? Will the others come to see his point of view? The whole play is witnessed from the viewpoint of Shriranga.
