It’s a bit corny, but director brings out the original and impulsive situations in TANU WEDS MANU.

Character of Manu (Madhavan) is s quiet, humble and soft-spoken, has no tone of voice or mind-set, believes in arranged marriages, enjoys old songs, and is unfashionable plainly. Character of Tanu (Kangna) is argumentative and a dictator, had many affairs, also has her new boyfriend's name tattooed on her chest, is a clear-cut and daring babe.

London based Manu is a very simple guy and an ideal groom for every parents. Family pressures lead him to Kanpur ... » read more

Tanu Weds Manu has been linked up with many movies like Jab We Met, Band Baajaa Baaraat, and so on. However more or less in each every rom-com stories, the story is almost same, either boy falls in love or girl falls in love, then story takes a u-turn and both fall in love with each other. Now the main point is how this u-turn is being showcased and how the overall treatment is being given to the film or script that makes ‘interesting’ for the viewers to watch the movie. Now let’s see iss shaadi ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ mein kitna kharcha kiya hain!

My take on Tanu Weds Manu...psst I hated it

Tanu Weds Manu rating: 3 out of 10

Tanu (Kangana Ranaut) is a misguided rebel without cause (smoking ciggies, gulping daaru & making a general idiot of herself) who doesn’t know what she wants. One moment she declares she is sick of everyone talking of only shaadi, shaadi, shaadi & next moment she is raring to elope to do shaadi. One moment she declares that she changes boyfriend every week, next she wants to elope with her BOYFRIEND to get married…it’s never clear if she has one or many boyfriends (this premise keeps changing from scene to scene).
Manu (Madhavan) is a wimp leading such a pathetic ... » read more

The first half of the movie is entertaining but the second half simply drags on. The story line is rather predictable where an unassuming shy guy Manu (Madhavan) goes with his family to meet Tanu (Kangna Ranaut) for an arranged marriage alliance and discovers that Tanu is a very flamboyant outgoing girl who enjoys smoking and drinking and has her lover's name tattooed on her chest. Madhavan is convincing as the simple, good hearted guy who falls hard for Tanu. Kangna Ranaut's acting skills are rather poor and this includes her diction as well. Her speech is very unclear ... » read more

A pleasant surprise gift in a small package

Tanu Weds Manu rating: 0 out of 10

In Indian Cinema, a good musical score which has already made its impact on the audience is considered half the battle won. And further if the movie comes out to be a surprisingly pleasant experience then it becomes an icing on the cake for its makers. The same is the case with TANU WEDS MANU which despite of having its own shares of drawbacks, still manages to make you smile and enjoy while sitting in the theater and keeps the good waves of 2011 flowing.

Yes, the movie has some seen before settings, the same Punjabi wedding drama, the same NRI visiting the country ... » read more

Tanu Weds Manu story is based on arrange marriage. She loves to live a rebellious life, and can’t sacrifice her freedom for anything. She opposes when her family wants her to marry a groom of their choice. She is in love with Raja (Jimmy).

Manu (Madhavan), a prey of family pressures, who is a doctor in London, reaches Kanpur on a lookout for a bride. He is sweet and coy and an introvert. He has got everything to be a perfect husband. Manu fell in love, the very first time he came to Kanpur and met Tanu. But when Tanu asks him to turn down the marriage proposal, ... » read more
