Tapas Pal is one of the most commercially successful actors of Bengal of this era. Tapas Pal was born on 29th September, 1958 in Chandannagore. In 1976, he completed his Higher Secondary and joined Mohsin College in Hooghly for B.Sc in 1979. In 1984, he got married and has a daughter who is an upcoming actress in Tollywood. While traveling in train, he was noticed by director Sriniwas Chakraborty who gave him acting proposal. In the meantime, he met the reputed director Tarun Majumder who casted him in Dadar Kirti in 1980 which gave him instant name and fame. He played the role of romantic hero in several movies . His films include Saheb(1981), Anurager Choya , Baidurya Rahasya(1985), Gurudakshina (1987), Uttara (2000),Mondo Meyer Upakhan (2002) and many more. He is involved with yatras and Group Theatre and has even done several television shows. He has traveled abroad extensively and has worked in some Hindi Movies. He got B.F.J.A award for the film “Saheb”. Presently, apart from acting, he is an active politician of Trinamul Congress and a social activist.
