Tere Mere Phere rating: 7 out of 10(Divya Solgama wrote on 29 Sep 2011)

It’s very tough to make a Comedy film over a serious issue like “Marriage”. In past we have seen film either making mockery of this relationship by showing a henpecked husband or some melodramatic films dealing with the after effects of marriage between the lead couple or some extra marital affair types films. But there are very few film or must say one or two films where the newlywed couple goes through a hell but in comical way. There are no villains or In Laws or work issues in such movies, it’s just the situation and the chain reaction followed after that. Actor “Deepa Sahi” brings us her first Directorial debut film “Tere Mere Phere” which stars Vinay Pathak, Riya Sen and Bunch of new comers, dealing with the after effects of Marriage but with good dash of humor in it. Let’s find out if the dash is perfect or “Cheeni Kum”.

“Tere Mere Phere” is film about Jai {Vinay Pathak} whose flight gets canceled due to argument between new wed couple Rahul {Jagrat Desai} and Pooja {Sasha Goradia}. Jai force them to give him lift in their Caravan to Shimla so he can meet his beloved Muskaan {Riya Sen}. Over the journey Jai comes to the reason behind the fights between the newlywed couple and thus starts the roller coaster ride of hilarious moments.

Story is fine and has some shades from few Hollywood films in bits and pieces. Screenplay is perfect blend of road journey meets the life of newlywed couple. The movie boost of some comical scenes like Jagrat’s Mother {Sushmita Mukherjee} forcing him to get married followed by the whole Sherwani scene where she lands Jagrat in trouble, The compatibility test between Jagrat and Sasha, Sushmita Mukherjees Ringtone in her sons mobile, Sasha getting morning nature call, Sushmita – Darshan Jhariwals arguments, Effects of Flirting with Gitanjali, Sasha-Jagrat fighting in Caravan with Vinay being the victim, Vinay Pathak developing could feet, Vinay Pathak argument with Pandit at the time of Marriage and many more. On the flip side the whole Plane Fight looked bit tacky followed by the Jagrat proposing Sasha in the train. Also the second half has some repetitive scenes followed by some dragging moments which dilute the fun.

One of the best U.S.P of the film is its fantastic breathtaking Locations of Himachal Pradesh. The locations are so beautiful and at times totally virgin. They give you the feel of watching a film shot in abroad or having Hollywood Style. Editing is fine, but one does wish it should have been more tightly especially in the middle portions, pre and post interval.

Music Shivangi Kashyap is fine, but nothing great. Songs like Ishq Khumari and Bam Bhole takes the story ahead. The best song of the film is the title track – Tere Mere Phere, which makes you humm along with it.

Deepa Sahi as an actor has worked in some mind blowing films and that too with some ace film makers. So when she opts for the director’s hat, one does expect a hard hitting or issue based film from her. But on the contrary she takes a total different style of film and manages to impress her well wishers. It’s very hard to make a comedy film. A comedy film is a comedy film when it makes you laugh, does not matter if its slap stick or situation based or in sarcastic manner. Deepa’s subject followed by the hilarious moments makes you laugh frequently throughout the film.

Vinay Pathak has aced as the funny man and out here it’s fun to watch him getting ‘Bheja Fried’ by the newlywed couple with their arguments and verbal fights. His reactions are funny and entertaining. One does wish at times that his role should had been bigger. Riya Sen in the Special Appearance does her part. New Comers Jagrat Desai and Sasha Goradia have done a good amount of hard work. They might sound bit loud or overact in the initial part of the movie, but given a small amount of time – One starts enjoying their fights, arguments and foolishness. Yes we also do feel if the film had some experienced actors the impact would have doubled. Sushmita Mukherjee is outstanding and most lovable character followed by her Second son. Darshan Jhariwal is fine.

So bol meri “Filmi Khopdi” is film mein kitna hai Dum ?

Dum ?? Yaar Kaafi comical dum hai. I guess when you have Vinay Pathak you should not worry and go ahead and watch the film. He’s sure shot gonna make you laugh with his goofy antics. Despite of some tacky Sp.Effects, Fresh Faces, Some Repetitive scenes and bit draggy moments the movie delivers you some great funny moments, followed by breathtaking locations. It’s for sure people are going to love the
“Jagda” between the “Miyan Biwi and Vinay Pathak”.
