Haripada, cashier of an office helps a man named Banku to get a job in his office & live an honest life. Haripada has a daughter, Karabi. Karabi's marriage settled but Haripada needs a lot of money for that. An old friend, Rajen Mukherjee promises to give all the money, & takes all that money from Haripada which he arranged. Rajen escapes with the money. Haripada & Banku break the office cash & go to jail for two years. Karobi's marriage dismissed forever. Her landlord tries to rape her, she escapes, start to work as a maid. After two years, Haripada & Banku released & meet with Karobi. Haripada, now a cancer patient, has no money even for treatment. They become imposters. Karobi starts to play a dangerous game. She marries a middle aged man with the help of Haripada & Banku. At first night, she tells her husband to not to involve in physical relation for seven days as she promised it to God. She escapes with jewellery leaving her sleeping husband. After that, police starts their inquiry. They fool the police. They return to Calcutta & meet Amit Mukherjee, son of Rajen. Haripada wants to take revenge; Karobi takes it in her own hand. Amit, an artist by profession starts liking this young lady. They get married. At first night, Karobi makes the same promise, but it does not work as she is starting to fall in love Amit. She comes to know that Rajen is dead. He was murdered. Amit is repaying his father's loan. Karobi tries to escape without jewellery but Amit wakes up & come to know about her past. He forgives her. They express love for each other. Haripada & Banku accept their relation very happily.
