Chandra Madhab Sen, a rich businessman and a powerful politician is giving a party for his daughter's engagement with Amiya Basu. Amiya too is a promising businessman and the son of a powerful rich person. After the engagement all the guests are go away. Chandra Madhab, his wife Rama Sen, son Tapas Sen, Shilpa and Amiya are preparing for dinner. The door knocks and a police sub-inspector comes to their drawing room. He introduces himself as Tinkari Haldar, the new sub inspector of Padma Pinkeer police station. A lady, named Sandhya Chakrabarty has committed sucide and he is investigating the case. Sandhya, who has two other names, was a refugee lady. Nobody in the room can find out any connection of that incident with them. They think that he is an imposter. Then comes the real twist, Tinkari shows a photograph to Chandra Madhab and he reminds him about Sandhya, a labourer in one of his factories, whom he had fired for striking in factory. Chandra Madhab is ashamed, but doesnt regret his action. Now Tinkari shows the photograph to Shilpa. Shilpa had complained against her as she had felt insulted by her behaviour when Sandhya was working in a departmental store. The store had discharged Sandhya. Remembering the incident, Shilpa regrets it and cries. Now comes the turn of Amiya and Tapas. Amiya recongnizes her as Jharna Dutta, with whom Amiya had played a very dirty game. He raped her, gave some money and then escaped. Amiya also regrets, Shilpa and her family listens to everything. Tapas had a physical relation with Reba, alias Sandhya, but his family wouldnt accept it. He stopped seeing her. Reba approached Rama for help but finding that Reba was pregnant, Rama didnt help her and drove her out of the house. Tinkari goes leaving a broken family. ChandraMadhab calls a police officer and comes to know that there is no one named Tinkari. They get back their job, but suddenly another call comes, which says that a lady has commited suicide and that an investigation is going on. The door knocks again.
